Handmade By Suzanne Goodness

Here is another share of a layout that I've created using the gorgeous Guest DT kit Suzanne from Handmade by Suzanne sent me.

The photo is of my Aunty Min and Uncle John, who were married during WW2.  Aunty Min had to save coupons in order to buy the fabric to make her dress.   That puts all the antics of the bridezillas  around the place into perspective, doesn't it?  With ANZAC day coming up, I thought it was a good time to scrap this photo - everyone had to make so many sacrifices during the World Wars, it really shows how our forebearers were so tough of spirit.

I've used:
 Prima En Francais Paper "Province"
Prima En Francais Paper "Billets"
Prima En Francais Paper "Bonjour"
Prima En Francais Journalling Notecards
Prima En Francais Trim Card
Prima En Francais Tiny Alphabet Stickers.
All of which can be found here.

I have added layers and texture by using a doily as a mask and spraying with Glimmermist-Coffee Shop, adding muslin (also glimmermisted with Coffee Shop), applying some vintage dress pattern paper with mod podge, painted with Gesso and Adironack Paint Daubers in Blue Jean and Aqua, then stamped with a script stamp.
I then used the Journalling cards as a mat for my photo, and I've also diecut a MFT High Tea Doily out of the reverse of "Bonjour."  Prettied it all up with some trims, pearl strips and flourishes, flowers and a butterfly.
Here is a close-up:

TFL - I am going to do some more playing with the last of this kit today - a 4th layout!!  Shows how generous this Guest DT pack was, just amazing actually!!
Cheers!

Hexagons

Using Hexagons is the challenge this week over at Frosted Designs Challenge Blog.
Here is what I came up with, using the totally gorgeous My Minds Eye "Follow Your Heart - Be Happy" range.

I used a new Martha Stewart punch to create these paper flowers:

Just needed to add a brad from the MME Follow Your Art - Be Happy range, and voila - lovely 3D paper flowers.
Well, that's it from me atm - I'm going to have a lovely scrappy night this evening - well, that's the plan anyway, so I'll be back with more shares later.

Ribbon Flower Tutorial

As promised I am finally back to share another layout I've created using the gorgeous Prima Marketing "En Francais" Range I got in my Guest DT pack from Handmade By Suzanne.  You can find this beauriful range here.
This is what I created - the photo is of my Mum, Linda, and her sister, Elaine - taken circa 1952 at Whitehead's studio, Ipswich.  Mum is on the right - and I really can see Connor in her face, same eyes...lol...

Here is a close up of the ribbon flowers I made - the blue one is using some of the Prima En Francais Trim, which I got in my Guest DT kit.

So, in case you are interested in how to make these flowers, I have made a little step x step:

1.  Trace around and circlular based jar on to cardstock to create some circles.

2.  Cut the circles out.

3.  Cover the circle with Double Sided Tape - jutting up against each other, but not overlapping.

4.  Trim around the circles.

5.  Start from the outside, and work the ribbon around the circle - only adhere the top half of the ribbon to add depth to the flowers

6.  Keep going, winding the ribbon around until you get to the centre.

7.  Add a centre to tidy things up a bit.

8.  Now, here is another ribbon flower - again using the Prima Trim.  This time, I've added a running stitch along the ribbon, then gathered it up before adhering it to the circle in the same manner.

9.  Once more, tidy up the centre with a nice trim, this time I used a Prima wooden button.

Well, that's it for me - hope you enjoy using your trims and ribbons to make some purty flowers!

Have you...

Done the sketch over at Handmade by Suzanne yet?  It is a goodie - here it is!

This is what I did with it:

Photos are of Connor having fun on a playground - thought the colours of the Kaisercraft Technologic range worked perfectly with them.  You can find the range here.  Cute hey?
I made the cogs border by using a Crafter's Workshop "Gears" template - found here, plus some texture paste - applied by my finger so it wouldn't be so thick....  Then I simply painted over it with Glimmermist - Coffee Shop to blend it in with the colours of my layout.

The WOW - Words or Whatever 12x12 Cog Set  C819 worked perfectly with the them, and I also used the WOW - Words or Whatever Block Alpha Uppercase C1388.  All of the chipboard was sprayed with some Tattered Angels, Glimmermist - in Coffee Shop.

Here is a close up:

OK, well that's it from me atm - but I'll be back later with a little ture on how to make some flowers:)
Bye!

Some Exciting Scrappy News!

I have been keeping a lil secret for a little while – and now I can finally share here.
Cool huh?  I must say I was pretty chuffed when the lovely Marelize contacted me to ask if I was interested – was I ever!!  LOL!
My gorgeous Guest DT pack came choc full of the lovely Prima En Francais Range – and I instantly knew it would be perfect for scrapping some of my vintage photos.  Here is one layout I’ve completed so far:
A-Beautiful-Love
This photo is one of the most treasured I have – it’s my Nanna and Pa on their wedding day.  This marriage lasted 62 years – and only ended when Pa sadly passed away.  I dare say their life wasn’t the easiest, they had difficult times as well as happy times, but what I admire is they made it work – they put each other first, and adored each other until the very end.  Just beautiful.
Anyways, I have used:

Prima Marketing - En Francais - "Billets" paper. (Reverse Side)
Prima Marketing - En Francais - "La Chaise" paper.
(Reverse Side)
Prima Marketing - En Francais - "Vinetta" flowers.
Prima Marketing - En Francais - Wooden Buttons.
Prima Marketing - En Francais - Tiny Alphabet Stickers.

Of course, I have also used some WOW – Words or Whatever Chipboard.  Belle flourish C1223 and Whirly Flourish C889.  With both flourishes, I first inked them up with Distress Ink – Tea Dye, then used a script stamp to stamp a script image on to them with light blue chalk ink.  It is always good to used a solid ink, like chalk ink, when stamping a light colour onto a darker colour .
I then added some Kaisercraft pearls for to add a little vintage touch.

Well, that’s it from me for a while – I have house cleaning and packing to do for the next couple of days!!
Take care, stay safe, and have a Happy Easter!

Fabulous Friday Time!

Well a new challenge has come up on the Frosted Designs Challenge  Site

This week, you are challenged to use banners on a project.  Once more the project can be an OTP, cards layout…anything that takes your fancy really!

I must admit it wasn’t really challenging for me to use banners, I’m kinda addicted to them at the moment…haha…

This is what I did:

Sunday-Best

The photo is of my Nanna’s family – Nanna is the little girl in the front, she was the second youngest in her family…..and the favourite of her father, apparently..lol…  They are all dressed up here, probably to go to church, as they were a devout church-going family.

I used the gorgeous October Afternoon Farmhouse Range – it is one of my faves for my vintage layouts – just love the colours and designs..

The gorgeous lamp post on the right is a WOW – Words or Whatever Triple Ornate Lamp Post C1178, which I’ve painted with Distress Crackle, in Scattered Straw.

Here is a close up:

It’s funny, while I was scrapping this – I really didn’t like the way it was heading at all,  so I went to bed..lol..in the morning I was able to look at it with fresh eyes and finish it – then I quite liked how it turned out!  Do you ever do that?

Oh, time for bed for me – ‘night all!!

Happy Easter Peeps!

Wendy has some fabulous Easter Inspiration over on the WOW – Words or Whatever Blog.  Don’t forget to go and check it out if you are doing some Easter scrapping.

I’ve also used some gorgeous WOW chipboard on this layout:

The-Parslow-Clan

I originally did this for the White With One challenge last month – using White and Kraft, and layering…BUT didn’t get a chance to finish it in time….oh dear..lol..

I’ve used Bookplates Assorted Pack C580 and New Flourish Corner Set C1250.  I just simply used Distress Stain in Picket Fence to colour them white.

Here are a couple of close ups:

Hope you all have a happy, safe and blessed Easter xx

CSI - Case File 13

Happy Sunday everyone!!  Did you get any April Fools Day jokes played on you?
Just letting you know a new challenge is up over on the CSI - Colour Stories and Inspiration Challenge Blog.

Here is the challenge:

This is what I did with it:

I have used the simple stunning new Prima range "Sun Kiss"  I adore all the beautiful blues and yellows - blue and yellow are my favourite colours, so how could I resist getting the entire range?  LOL.....
I have, naturally, added some WOW - Words or Whatever goodness to my creation.  I've used the Filgaree Heart that was available during the recent promotion (I loved the heart so much, I actually purchased WOW chipboard in order to get an extra one, well two..lol)  and Block Alphabet Uppercase C1388.  I painted both pieces in Distress Crackle Paint - Antique Linen, and on the heart I dotted some Liquid Pearls in various spots for highlights.
Here are some close ups:

Hope you all have a lovely day - I'm heading out into the garden to do some weeding, then a spot of cleaning.....  may even get to hit the scrap table later..oh, how I love school holidays, it is so relaxing!!
Cheers!
